Autograph's Latest 'Short Stories' report

Our friends at Ray Audio in Essex, a young and growing sound reinforcement company, recently purchased their first DiGiCo mixing system from us, an SD9. Founder Jon Ray says, ‘We’ve bought the SD9 as we work with lots of bands in a variety of locations, everything from wedding venues to theatres, pubs and festivals. The DiGiCo was the best choice for us due to its small footprint, hugely flexible routing and Waves compatibility allowing engineers to use their own plug-ins to augment the already incredible sound of the console.’

He concludes, ‘We have also decided to enter the dry hire arena and we wanted to start with a well-established, respected and sure-fire console that engineers love and will call on time and again.’

In another education project, we recently assisted the Ibstock Place School with consultation, installation and commissioning services for their beautiful new theatre. Comprising a stage, auditorium and gallery with seating for 300, orchestra pit, extensive foyer and bar, green room, dressing rooms and studio theatre, this is surely one of the finest theatrical facilities at any school in the UK.

Returning to our theatrical roots, The Almeida Theatre in Islington is now reaping the benefits of a lovely new d&b audiotechnik sound system, specified and supplied by Autograph Sales & Installations. A small room with an international reputation, the Almeida began life as a literary and scientific society but is now a contemporary theatre that ‘… makes argument for theatre as an essential force in an increasingly fragmented society.’

Finally for this instalment, we have once again been working with long-term clients The Guildhall School Of Music And Drama, this time to design and install a paging and latecomers system covering their theatre, music hall (subject of a previous Autograph installation project, details HERE) and lecture recital hall. The new facilities include HD PTZ cameras for archiving as well as infra red devices for video show relay, bespoke paging microphones in three locations and a CS Q-Sys Core 100f handling backstage audio distribution.

Editor’s Note - The GSMD is always a source of news but a particularly interesting current headline is that a former alumna and Fellow of the school, Jodie Whittaker, has recently been named as the first female Dr Who!

More soon…and look out for some very important news from us at PLASA (London Olympia, September 17th-19th, stand H10).
